I used to use Plex but have switched to Boxee, which is a good thing since Plex requires OSX, and would have required me to buy a 750 Mac Mini as a HTPC, yuck. I also find that its library scanning works better than Plex.
Win8 was installed on top of Win 7 (where Boxee could see the videos). I am using BitDefender 2013 and I have disabled Firewall and Anti Virus. However, I personally think the interface could use a massive overhaul. I like its interface the most and is just really easy to setup and use. Boxee Box can see the folders, but not the files. It was nice to be able to go to the apple trailer app and browse around and watch trailers. Its not clear when the Boxee breach took place or who is. My main point is I tested Boxee for it's VOD capabilities and really like the selection and integration of the various channels. It can locate issues with a single click and will provide you with information about the issue as well as with instructions on how you can fix it. The Boxee user forums seem to have been dormant since early August of last year, shortly after the Samsung purchase was announced.
In order to make locating and fixing the cause of such issues as easy and efficient as possible, we've developed a free diagnostics tool: Remote Control Diagnostics. It's located elsewhere and can also only be solved there.Īlthough our products can't cause any such issues, we're regularly contacted about such issues and asked for help. Instead, the cause of the issue exists independently of Remote Buddy. Therefore Remote Buddy is neither the cause of the issue nor is it responsible for it. However, as soon as you quit Remote Buddy, the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem is back in control and any issues caused in it by other applications become visible.
For as long as you're running Remote Buddy, issues like this are covered by Remote Buddy and it's driver and are therefore not visible to you. If other applications don't use the interface to the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem correctly, this can lead to the effect that nothing happens when you press a button on your Apple® Remote. The company plans to ship the free Boxee TV set-top boxes to early adopters before they go on sale to the general public sometime in November. To enable you to use all capabilities of the IR Receiver of your Mac®, Remote Buddy is using its own driver. The boxee forums folks are pretty laid back too - havent seem any Techie Snobs posting. Furthermore, a DVR hosted in the cloud will offer unlimited storage that’s accessible from a number of devices simultaneously. If your post belongs in a different forum, please post it there. Boxee TV will ship with two TV tuners and utilize an interface that’s years ahead of anything Comcast, Time Warner, DirecTV or Dish has to offer.
everything looks and sounds great but I was wondering why on 1/3 of my movies show up in the 'My Movies' tab and only four of my TV Shows show. I downloaded the Vudu app on Boxee for my PC. Here, Vudu customers may post information, questions. I posted on the XBMC forums for some input and pretty much got laughed at. The Vudu Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Vudu experience.
The revamped set-top box will merge over-the-air broadcasts, online content and DVR functionality into a single unit. In general, some of the devs for xbmc and boxee think supporting 64 bit is pointless because they have a very narrowminded view of the use cases theyre supporting. 2010’s model was centered on being an app-based media streamer, an idea that Boxee CEO Avner Ronen since realized was a failed concept. The firm learned a lot from their first outing about what works and more importantly, what doesn’t work. It can’t hurt to try if you’re lucky enough to live in one of the aforementioned cities, however.īoxee is planning a huge reboot with the upcoming Boxee TV set-top box. It’s unclear if new sign-ups will qualify or if the offer is only being extended to those that requested additional information early on. This includes Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
Those who opted to receive additional information via an early sign-up page are now reportedly receiving emails with an offer to earn a free Boxee TV simply by completing a survey.īased on the survey, The Verge has ascertained that the promotion is limited to markets that will support the cloud-based DVR service at launch. Boxee is betting the house on their upcoming reboot and if you happen to live in one of several select test markets, you can get in on the action free of charge.
